The ABC of the role of a Marriage Celebrant

A   Passionate awareness that the ceremony is not ours but the clients: and their
wishes, their choices, and their contributions.

B     Most of all we preoccupy ourselves with standards of preparation, service, ethics and
conventions of behaviour that result in ceremonies which please, thrill, console and
strengthen our clients and our fellow human beings.

C   We are open to new ideas, new possibilities and responding to the needs with all
personal ceremonies, public ceremonies and being ritually part of paradigm shifts in
the social fabric.

These three codes are part of many more codes of ethics and come from the Philosophy & Code of Ethics I was given on my graduation and appointment as A Civil Marriage Celebrant.

Within this scope of practice I have had the privilege of conducting many many wedding ceremonies. There were no two alike!

At a glance

Formal
Pepper’s Creek Chapel, Pokolbin Hunter Valley 2012. A formal chapel setting with a vineyard background. Simply stunning

Glasshouse Reception Lounge at the Entrance. A formal but relaxed atmosphere with a photographers dream of rooftop splendour.

The Japanese Gardens in East Gosford. Simplistic beauty in a nutshell.

Elopements and Surprise Weddings including a baby naming – it can be done!
Fun and fabulous.

Informal
An intimate wedding for two (must include 2 witnesses) or why not take advantage of the outdoors from beaches to forests – simply irresistible charming.

Budget Weddings

You will be surprised how affordable a wedding can be. The fees of a celebrant are negotiable and flexible to suit your budget. Giving you an intimate and gorgeous wedding so that you can focus on other important things in life like your honeymoon or a new kitchen!

It works like this. You could have your wedding service at your home or in mine. This would be a small group with two witnesses and perhaps a few guests (no more than ten), no rehearsal, no PA system. Naturally it is costed differently to a more formal ceremony on a beach or if held in a formal venue with 150 guests, 2 rehearsals, PA system at a venue miles away.

I did the sweetest wedding for a couple who wanted to be married under a tree in the botanical gardens in Daylesford Victoria. There were two witnesses and myself. They then had their “reception” at the local Lavender Farm Cafe.

I had a couple who married in their lunch hour once – now that was a quicky!
Given these extremes, fees are calculated on the location and the timing, week night, weekend etc. I am open to suggestions you may have so let’s discuss your plans.

Hello my name is Kristina Visser and I would love the opportunity to be your Celebrant. I take my role as a Wedding Celebrant seriously. I treat every occasion professionally but also like to mix in a lot of fun. I live at Horsfield Bay on the exquisite Central Coast of NSW just a stepping stone from Sydney and the Hunter Valley which includes the beautiful hinterland with all of its abundance of natural venues from rainforests, national parks to our beaches not to mention quaint chapels and restaurants. Come and visit! Life as a CMC has been an on-going project for me filled with musings and possibilities requiring compassion, tact and understanding. I love researching and exploring the variety and significance of celebrations, particularly interfaith. This is combined with my natural writing skills and a background in journalistic studies. I am keen to pass on the gifts of my learnings. “When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.“ Nora Ephron, When Harry Met Sally So if you feel you have a rapport with me please send me an enquiry so we can get started.
